Toonami Talkback: Casshern Sins - "At the End of the World"
Late in getting these up! Sorry folks who wanted to discuss!

Casshern Sins - At the End of the World Wrote:After the murder of near-goddess Luna, the ruling robot society of Earth falls into decay. The only robot left unaffected by the disease known as "The Ruin" is Casshern. Unable to remember if he truly did kill Luna and trigger the beginning of the end of Earth's entire civilization, human and robot alike, Casshern now wanders the world, trying to unravel the mystery that connects him, Luna, and The Ruin.

RE: Toonami Talkback: Casshern Sins - "At the End of the World"
It's very "meh" so far.

The intro--that was an intro? A bunch of still images? Really?

The story--it seems like it's rushing into things a little too quickly. They're giving us so much information at once and so little time to absorb it. I'm worried about how the pacing will be handled. I also have a few issues with Casshern's amnesia.

I might tune in a few more weeks, but if the series goes in the direction that I'm concerned it may go, then I'll just drop it. 3/5

Yeah, I think "meh" is the best word to describe Casshern Sins so far. It really could go in any direction, but I'm not expecting total greatness (or any greatness). I'm giving the first episode a generous "3 Stars" out of 5.

It's such a shame because I really want to like this series. I have a ton of respect for classic Tatsunoko characters such as Casshern. I think Casshern Sins could be much better, though.

Will it get any better than what this first episode had to offer?

Stay tuned...

The problem I had with this series is that it was so dang moody. Moody can be okay, but I think there's a threshold for how far (and for how long) you can use it as an excuse for a lack of story dynamics.

If you feel a bit disoriented after the first few episodes, I wouldn't fret much. Some of the secondary characters that come into play will offer you a few more details (not a lot, but certainly more than Casshern will give you).

P.S. I marked "didn't watch." Maybe I'll stick around for it next week...
P.P.S. Curse you FUNi and your Anglican pronunciations!

My opinion is pretty much what's already been stated here - so I won't rewrite what everyone's already said. I do, however, really dig the style of the show. The character designs are great, super sleek and retro...everyone's really skinny and "pretty" (oh christ - now she's got ME saying it!).

I'll stick around to catch some of the action - if anything, it made for good background TV whilst they all murmured and looked around all brooding-like. Once it kicked into action mode it was pretty sweet stuff.

My sentiments exactly. But for me the Ruin saying "Casshern!" echoed in my head for awhile. When someone cut me off in traffic today, "Casshern!"

But overall, its like Toonami never left. So surreal seeing Tom again but with a less censored vocabulary.
