RE: Toonami Talkback: Casshern Sins - "The Woman of the Tall Tower"
This was a perfect example of an episode of this series where the episode character proves a bit more fascinating than our protagonist. Lizbell is kind of crazy, sure, but who says that crazy people can't have purpose in life as well?
Next episode though, it's the exact opposite, in my opinion: we get a worthwhile context but a shallow and ineffective character personality. That and the singing isn't particularly great... |

Maybe I'm missing something...but is everyone a robot? I mean, I always thought there were humans in the mix since folks question Casshern on his robotic-ness; and everytime a humanoid character pops up I ASSUME they're human.
...but then Lizbell falls off the tower and is crushed by a giant bell...but is perfectly fine. A better episode than some of the past - some great visuals - but ultimately the overly brooding nature of EVERYONE leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. |

So far, we've had our share of decent to pretty good episodes.
This felt weak to me. There were no stakes whatsoever. Lizbell was the only notable thing about this episode, but she wasn't enough to save it. Compared to other characters, she was just okay; not as great as others. 2/5 |

ding dong, ding dong, ding dong, ding dong
The sound of Lizbell's voice echoed in my head long after this episode was over. I find her to be a character that is eerily beautiful in many ways. 4 Stars. I didn't think it was a perfect episode, but I did enjoy Lizbell very much. (07-08-2012 03:42 PM)Cody S. Wrote: Maybe I'm missing something...but is everyone a robot? It's actually best to first assume that they are robots not yet physically affected by the Ruin. If I'm correct, robots became self-aware and began taking over even before the Ruin happened. So, the vast majority of characters we see Casshern meet are in fact robots. Humans do still exists, but they are nearly extinct. Also, if I'm correct, Akos (from the third episode) was the only human who Casshern has met so far. EDIT: I think the reason why Casshern's "robotic-ness" is questioned is because he just looks too damn good. He's too perfect/flawless in a world where so many robots are literally falling apart. When you think about the kind of dark and gritty world these characters live in, it's easy to understand why EVERYONE is the way they are. |
