READ THIS FIRST: New Forum!
I've been tinkering with this since the old forum died (which itself was only slightly less horrible than the one I replaced it with) so I hope you like the new one. There are a few things to know before we get too far:
  • The old user accounts are gone. The forum wasn't that active and I just didn't want the code-baggage causing trouble. Everyone will have to create a new account.
  • phpbb was horrible at letting in Spam Bots. I thought I tied it down tight enough to stop them, but it turns out I just moved every new user forever into inactive-purgatory. This system seems to be better. (Fingers crossed.)
  • The forum is now mobile! You can view and interact with it much better on your mobile devices. I'll probably be on mine all the time.
  • Let me know what you'd like to see. I'm open to making this place better for everyone.

RE: New Forum is here!
Thank you so much!

phpBB is a mixed bag when it comes to forum software. Let's hope this new system turns out better.

RE: READ THIS FIRST: New Forum!
This forum - even without the theming - already looks 100% better than phpBB. And the clean slate feels kinda nice too.

Sadly the clean slate has resulted in a user base with more staff than members for the moment. Sadly phpbb did more to drive users away than keep them here. Google will bring them back... I have faith.

RE: READ THIS FIRST: New Forum!
Nothing wrong with starting from the ground up every once in a while. The AI Community has been stagnant for a while not - maybe a clean slate will help us build a better foundation.

It already FEELS better without all the random inactive zombie accounts. It'll also help us sift through those who are still with us from those who have moved on (staff and users alike)!

Hey guys, I'm here! Big Grin

Man, is it great to see a new coat of paint for this place! You've done a good job, John! Hopefully the others who were on just before this change will sign up soon.

I really hope we can get this place back on it's feet finally!

Well, it was bound to happen someday. I miss seeing all the old posts, especially from Anya. Will try to be active on these new forums, like I was on the old ones in the past.

RE: READ THIS FIRST: New Forum!
I'm not going to lie... I hated the phpBB forum. It just wasn't cool.

The new forum looks good and feels more like what I'm used to. I'm certainly going to miss our old posts, but many of those old posts/threads/discussions represented a past AI Community that simply no longer exists.

The fact of the matter is that we needed a reconstruction. As of right now, we don't have anywhere to go but up. So, let's try to rebuild this place together and see how far we can take it. Smile
