Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean - Tasermon's Teammate - 04-15-2012 12:34 AM

The new anime series and sequel to the first Eureka 7 series has aired in Japan (and the accompanying manga is already several chapters along), featuring the son of Eureka and Renton, Ao, as he fights to save his island home, his friends, and his planet and possibly entire dimension, from being torn asunder.

From what I've seen so far (in very extended previews), it looks to be just as good as the original, in my opinion. The animation is detailed and wonderful, the characters and their personalities and interactions are unique, intriguing, and lovable (even with the ones ya love to hate), and it covers a wide range of emotions from humor to horror to happiness, while meshing the scenes together very well in what is, for the most part, a very good pace so far.

The music is good and original, but not in the same way it was in the first series. I know that since this is a different series, it might be defined by a different type of music, but still, I hope they explore different music genres as the series progresses, like they did in the first one.

Overall, I'm very impressed so far and I think I'll love it just as much as I did the first series. Can't wait 'till some company dub/subs it and releases it here in the states!

Good news!

Funimation has got the rights to the series and is simulcasting it on their channel and on the web with subtitles!

That was pretty fast. They're only a week behind the episodes as they premiere in Japan, which is pretty darn fast subbin', I believe.

If enough people are interested, I'd be happy to discuss individual episodes!
