The Count of Monte Cristo is a wealthy, sly, oftentimes brooding, and inevitably mysterious man whose very speech offers an ambiguity unlike most jaded aristocrats he so claims to be of similarity. This façade however is taken full on as the unequivocal truth by a fifteen-year-old aristocrat named Albert--an impressively confidant young man who is about to discover the value, and conflict, of breaking out into one's own and going against the grain of a society well in tune with its own agenda. Albert comes into contact with the Count's cool pretense while attending Carnivàle--a traditional citywide celebration--but only after getting involved with a few back street vagabonds first.
