The interview with Marquette began with a discussion of his beginnings in acting. When asked about what increased his interest in acting and what he had to do to reach his current level of success, his response was as follows:
When I was young, I didn't really participate in acting classes very much. In some cases, I might get help on an important audition with a professional; but there is only so much a young kid can learn. Freshman year in high school I participated in the high school drama program, but that was more about stage acting. Other than that, I've been a normal kid! I believe I was about five years old when I really started performing in on camera acting, and maybe several years later when I participated in voice acting.
To be honest, I was acting way before I can remember. There is not much I remember, other than simply being brought up as an actor. My whole life has involved acting, so for me it kind of grew to be a part of me. Now that I'm older, the interest for me is in the experience of acting. Whether it is voice or on-camera acting, I enjoy it and the experiences it brings.
Obviously, the dream for any actor is to become the best, but it is always a struggle. The struggle itself of competing with so many other actors makes it interesting and challenging enough.
The main thing that got me where I am is dedication and time. Many people have the idea that all you have to do is book a huge movie and become famous in no time at all. It's not like that in reality; I am where I am in my career because I've been involved in the industry for over 10 years. People have to start somewhere, and the reality is that it takes a long time to develop a background and rsum to support you in your career.
Proving to people you are the best choice is just as hard as any other job. There are so many people struggling with their acting careers, and getting an acting job is like any other; showing the employer your resume and what you will bring to the role at hand. A lot about acting is being versatile, and performing what the director/producers asks of you. Sometimes you're the person they want, sometimes your not; that's just how it works.
The now seventeen-year-old Sean Marquette is also involved in a new upcoming movie called GRILLED, playing the role of Jeremy Goldbluth, the son of Cookie Goldbluth, who will be played by Burt Reynolds. Marquette took a moment talk about his role in the movie GRILLED.
Jeremy is thirteen-years-old and is becoming a man; having his Bar Mitzvah. Cookie Goldbluth has a surprise for him as a present for becoming a man, which should be quite funny to viewers...
Marquette has also proven to be very versatile in his skills as an actor, whether his work includes live-action projects, or voice work for animated programs.
I very much like acting in general, there is nothing else I would rather do! As for dislikes, sometimes as an actor there are roles I think I would be great doing, but you just don't get it like you think you should. It's somewhat of a let down, but doing it for so many years' gets you used to not booking every job you want; even that doesn't affect me much.
