'Tripping the Rift' Season Two Premiere
July 20th, 2005 11:30 PM by Aaron H. Bynum

New Season - Same Vibe

Tripping the Rift is a rather peculiar animated television series, who since its debut back in the 2004-year, has become an unquestionably out of the blue favorite amongst television viewers looking for something fresh and new. Exclusive to the SCI FI Channel, Tripping the Rift is a computer animated television series that pulls no punches. Following a spaceship captain named Chode, whom is far from your noble, honest, and disciplined leader, and his crew of arrogant, eccentric, idiotic band of misfits, this series finds its humor in the most disturbing ways possible… but even in saying such, ever since its debut, Tripping the Rift has been a success.

The first season of this CG TV program kicked off with the episode "God is Our Pilot," which served as an introduction and the beginning to a new series gauged to step on some toes and spit in a few faces. Tripping the Rift has been a wonderfully offensive program in a variety of ways, carving out ugly secondary characters, insane space clowns, and much more, a brand of humor that is often hard to find on cable outlets. The first season broke through thirteen episodes, and the shows fans wanted more. Tripping the Rift, as an entirely computer animated television program, takes months to complete on an episodic basis. And as such, several television viewers will be pleased to find that the SCI FI Channel's famous summer seasons will also include a new season of this sprightly TV program about a crew of not-so-lovable individuals spending time, tripping the rifts of space.

The second season of Tripping the Rift will debut on the SCI FI Channel on Wednesday, July 27th at 10:00pm Eastern Time Zone. The season premiere will be marked with not one, but two brand new episodes of the CG television program. The episodes "You Want to Put That Where?" and "Cool Whip" will air on the evening of the second season's debut. Now that the sophomore season of this series is just about underway, perhaps now the show's creators and writers can relax from all of the undue pressure to perform well. As the only animated series on the network, Tripping the Rift was initially born into the spotlight, and thankfully, through to now the show has delivered to the audience's expectations.

Six -- as voiced by
Carmen Electra

Tripping the Rift's characters do what they can to earn a quick buck, even though this oftentimes concludes with somebody getting tossed in jail or nearly getting themselves killed... whichever is easiest. Chode, the ship's captain, is a greedy, beer-guzzling pervert. The rest of the Jupiter 42's crew includes; Bob, the spaceship artificial intelligence with a relatively neurotic mind of its own; T'Nuk, the most ugly (and verbally abusive) crewmember; Gus, a depressive robotic chief engineer; Whip, a teenaged slacker; and Six, a sexy android who specializes in… sex. Tripping the Rift specializes in a type of raw and fearless humor that while certainly has the opportunity to put off a good amount of TV viewers, nevertheless is still the perfect cup of tea for some animation fans.

Recently in the news for a small shift in its voice over cast, Tripping the Rift is as popular now as it was early on throughout its first season, wherein the program collected well over 2 million viewers on its Thursday evening airings. Professional model and social icon Carmen Electra signed on to voice the sexy android "Six" earlier on in the year [AI News Article], while the rest of the cast is assumed to remain the same. Six's character has always served as an interesting anchoring point for the series' plots, considering that as a sex icon… she's bound to see a lot of screen time. Making sure that Tripping the Rift maintains its composure as that one new risqué adventure and comedy program, Electra's voicing of Six is one of the new perks fans of science fiction and animation alike are anticipating for the new season.

The SCI FI Channel is the only place where fans of science fiction and fantasy can get their complete fill of entertainment in movie, mini-series, or complete television series form. Tripping the Rift, as many individuals expect, will help introduce a new variety of viewers to animation in the realm of science fiction. With some really high quality computer graphic animation, top of the line voice acting, and intelligent screenwriting, this animated television series will hopefully live on past its current season in addition to serving as the springboard for other new and original animated projects for the SCI FI Channel.

While the cable channel's second original animated television series has been under conceptual and developmental wraps for several months, many animation fans are satisfied nevertheless with what progress Tripping the Rift has made in just a year's worth of time.
