"Jet"

The episode "Jet" seemed to be one of right versus wrong. Viewers were able to observe the characters wrestling with the theory of whether two wrongs made a right.

"Jet" began with Sokka recommending that he and Katara and Aang hike across the forest filled area they were located in, but suddenly they run into a group of Fire Nation soldiers, all thanks to 'Sokka's instincts' and his desire to be leader. Running into the Fire Nation leads to a moderate battle, and turns dangerous for Aang and company until a band of kids varying in age jump from out of nowhere, shooting arrows and jumping on the backs of the Fire Nation soldiers.

Jet, the leader of the band of guerrillas, invites Aang, Katara, and Sokka to his crew's hideout located in and around very large trees. Huts and tents along with sidewalks made of wood were built to contain the hideout. While resting at Jet's hideout, Katara and Sokka both have a discussion about what happened to their families due to past attacks from the Fire Nation tribe. Later that evening, Jet asks of Sokka to help in a second major mission. Jet and Sokka along with some of Jet's crew of freedom fighters set up an ambush on an elderly man that seemed to look as though he had an affiliation with the Fire Nation. Sokka believes that the old man doesn't have any connections at all with the Fire Nation, and that Jet is merely a 'thug' and cannot be trusted.

Although Sokka has his major suspicions and feelings of distrust towards Jet, Aang and Katara continue to stand with Jet to help with fighting against the Fire Nation that are located near a small village not far from Jet's hideout. The next mission involves the usage of a nearby reservoir and a dam that blocks a small amount of river water.

One night, Sokka is awakened by activities that Jet and his crew members were involved in. Sokka decides to follow them and finds out that Jet is secretly plotting to fill the reservoir with so much water that once the dam is destroyed, it will not only flood the Fire Nation out of the nearby village, but could also cause the death of innocent villagers. Jet strongly believes that such an act is worth the risk to destroy the Fire Nation. Sokka is suddenly caught by one of Jet’s crew members, and suddenly ends up in a major debate with Jet about how wrong it would be to destroy innocent lives just to destroy the Fire Nation. Jet has Sokka taken away for a 'long walk' away from the scene, and later Jet meets up with Aang and Katara so he can have them fill up the creek and riverbed with enough water to fill the reservoir downstream.

Katara and Aang later realize Jet's plan after meeting with him at the reservoir. A battle against Jet with Katara and Aang working together takes place. Although the dam still ends up getting destroyed and water rushes quickly towards the village, things work out for good when Sokka runs into Katara and Aang and explains to them that he managed to have the village evacuated before the destruction of their village.

This episode was very strong in emotion and fighting action. Viewers of Avatar: The Last Airbender need not complain with such an enthusiastic and creative story line that continues to hold dedicated viewership.
