Design Contest - Become a Manga Character!

If you have always wished to see your likeness in the pages of the latest popular manga-styled comic, but either have never had the opportunity to before or are still making strides to craft your own intellectual property, Seven Seas Entertainment's new contest is here to help you. Although there is only one week left in the contest, until the deadline tolls, it is plenty of time for aspiring artists and evolving graphic designers to create, edit, and e-mail in their entry. Seven Seas Entertainment is a recently established company wholeheartedly dedicated to developing and publishing original comics and graphic novels for the international market.

The western distribution industry for Asian comics, novels, art books and the like has grown to unbelievable proportions in recent years. Whether concerning the comics mainstay of Dark Horse Comics, or the friendly tower of power Tokyopop, manga has found its way to the west, and with nothing but the finest care as well. Seven Seas Entertainment will feature the two lucky winners of this contest in an up and coming original Seven Seas Entertainment manga property.

What do you need to do to enter? Draw a picture of yourself, and e-mail it to the contest managerial committee... that's all. In whatever manga style you love or prefer (highly-detailed, super-deformed, retro, etc.) and with whatever medium you choose (pen, pencil, black and white or in color), draw yourself as a manga character. It can be a simple headshot or a full-body picture. When you are done with the self-portrait, simply e-mail it to the contest managers at Seven Seas Entertainment.

Prizes? For starters, your image will be placed within one of the manga schedule dot be distributed by Seven Seas Entertainment in February of next year. One (1) winner will be male, and one (1) winner will be female. Each grand prize winner will also snag a hot-off-the-press copy of their cameo-manga as signed by the authors and illustrators. There will be six (6) runner-up winners to the contest. Three (3) runners up will be male, and three (3) runners up will be female. The runner-up winners will each receive a signed copy of a Seven Seas title as to be released in February of his or her choosing. The submission deadline is November 30th, 2004, what are you waiting for? Start sketching!

Notable Rules? The Complete List of Rules are up and are available for viewing; however, notable rules that potential entrants must keep in mind include the following: You must be a resident of the United States or of Canada, 2) Artwork must be appropriate for all ages... which obviously means no nudity, 3) You must be at least thirteen (13) years old to participate, 4) Work submit absolutely must be original work as authored by the entrant, 5) No payment will be made for the likeness when published. This is a royalty-free competition.

Winners will be selected by the voting public online at the Official Seven Seas Forums. It will be through a popular vote that various entrants will advance through qualification rounds, down to the "finals" in order to reach the ultimate prize. Do keep in min that only registered users can vote... so, if you submit a legitimate entry, get all of your friends to register at the forums so that they can vote for you.
