The best cartoon ever created? That's a tough question to answer. But the UK national broadcast Channel 4 is attempting to tackle this massive inquiry that has been debated for a number of years already (and will certainly be the focus of a number of debate in the near future). One can easily determine which animated television series, feature film, independent work, and/or piece of small shop talent that he or she chooses to be their own favorite; but one can only imagine how difficult it is to determine with several other fans and professionals just what are, in fact, the best produced and distributed features and shows since the birth of the medium.
This major television event, currently under the title of "100 Greatest Cartoons" will be a four-hour marathon, guaranteeing a detailed showcase of each title that makes the list. And so, one can relive the greatness of the Golden Age, as well as bask in the glory of the digital effects artistry of the present, all in one day.
How do you cast your vote? Head on over to the Channel 4 Voting Info Page to read up on just what all the top 100 listing is about. The site notes that "whether you grew up on a diet of Tom & Jerry and Porky Pig or modern classics like South Park, The Simpsons and King of the Hill, everyone has their favourite cartoon and characters. We'll cover everything from Popeye to cult Japanese Anime in what will be a comprehensive history of over a century of animation..." Therefore, as one can tell, this list encompasses everything animated, and will be just as inclusive and expansive as its voters permit it. There are 105 titles up for nomination at the suggested information page as one will find, along with synopses for each and every title as well. Check out the list, and get to vote so that your top ten will be heard.
