The Mystery Begins (again)

Just over two years ago, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Animation officially debuted their latest version of the Mystery, Inc. problem solvers. The contemporized gang of teen detectives had their hands full from the start, what with all the ghost trucks, man-crab beasts, and flying phantoms wandering about. The team prevailed, on most occasions, but as the second season of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated unfolds in the coming weeks, viewers will become reacquainted with the struggles and consequences wrought by their previously solved (or unsolved) mysteries from the series' first twenty-six episodes.

New episodes of Scooby-Doo! Mystery, Inc. will air on weekdays in the forthcoming week (Cartoon Network; 2:00pm, ET/PT), reuniting the gang after a rather severe falling out (or was it falling apart?) at the close of the previous season. When last pursuing bad guys, it was revealed that the Freak of Crystal Cove was none other than the town mayor, Fred's father figure. Soon thereafter, the secret history of the original Mystery, Inc. detective group came to light, and in the end, it wasn't pretty. What was once a fun and purposeful means of cleaning up the town had turned into a dangerous game of blackmail, both then and now.

As the new season picks up, the most evident challenge is to bring the teen team back together after being forcibly separated. Viewers may recall how Shaggy's parents vowed to send the boy to a military school; Fred embarked on a journey to find his biological mother and father; and the maniacal Professor Pericles swooped in and stole two additional pieces of the Planispheric Disc. The second season of Schooby-Doo! Mystery, Inc. brings the gang back together, and this time around, their mission is clearer than ever: save Crystal Cove at all costs.

The animated series will throw in the usual array of scary bears, mutated cattle, and corrupt locals, but the threat of Pericles and his ties to the old mystery-solving group is ever present. Once the Planispheric Disc is finally completed, will it reveal the ultimate treasure, unveil an even greater mystery, or as is often the case, subject the town of Crystal Cove to more danger than previously imagined?
