In the land of Frightsylvania, in the capitol town of Scream City, hunkered low in the basement of a decrepit mansion, a band with no name rocks out. It would be pretty cool if they did all of these things intentionally -- living within their means, masters of metal and grunge who dominate the indie scene. Unfortunately for Larry (a werewolf) and his band, they aren't unknowns by choice -- they're unknown because it's almost impossible for a young band to get a decent gig in this town.

Scary Larry is a new animated comedy set the dark and perpetually strange borders of a city occupied rather amicably by assorted ghosts, ogres, minor demons, crab-men, and living skeletons. Larry is a werewolf. He lives for music, and does everything he can to bring his guitar's "special brand of face-melting rock" to the masses. He's a resourceful teenager who dreams of making it big one day, but for now has to settle for snagging concerts at abandoned warehouses to pay the rent. Scary Larry targets Kids 7-12, and frequently sets its sights on the predicaments and challenges of Larry and his friends -- the band with no name.

Europe Images International, headquartered just west of Paris, France, holds the worldwide distribution rights to Scary Larry (52x13).

The television animation will reportedly be available autumn 2011, bringing along with it the amusing struggles of a rock band too good to make it big (or something like that).

Viewers will no doubt get to know Larry's bandmates too, like Victoria (vampire), a killer vocalist whose personality is equally charming and nasty; Frank (frankenstein), the drummer, a science experiment with a big heart and a frequently runaway brain; and Mummy (mummy), the composer and bassist, a three-thousand-year-old teenage girl whose intellectual commentary usually goes over the heads of her friends.

Larry's band gets along pretty well, and the group's sound does win over a good number of fans whenever they play a gig. But alas, when there are other things to worry about -- getting a driver's license, meeting talent scouts, (trying) to fall in love -- sometimes the music just doesn't jive. In Scary Larry, Larry and his friends go head-to-head with others in Scream City for the right to rock, night after night. One night they may have to stare down a boy band of Siamese quintuplets, another night fend off the threats a bandmate's obsessive parents, and yet another night, consider phoning the underworld to ask the ghosts of rock stars past for some advice.

Animation production for Scary Larry includes work by Timoon Animation (Paris, France), whose other contributions to the world of cartoons include CG slapstick series Fish 'n Chips, the kid's adventure My Giant Friend, and the hyper-comedy Monk.

For the kids of the band with no name, stress and anxiety are just part of the job, but team chemistry and a love of rock are always part of the plan.
