[pre] Oscars 2004: Best Animated Feature Film

The award for the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar in the 2004 Academy Awards (the 77th Academy Awards) is already the talk of the town a good four months or so ahead of time… The Academy has announced that there are eleven animated feature films eligible for nomination. For those unaware, there are only three available spots open for the nomination of the Oscar. Of course, the films up for nomination in the Best Animated Feature Film category are eligible for nomination for other categories so long as those films meet the requirements set forth by the Academy for said category. The list of eleven films up for nomination for the award show (nominations are to be announced: January 25, 2005, award show is to be held: February 27, 2005); include the following:

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence [Production I.G.]
Home on the Range [Disney]
The Incredibles [Disney-Pixar]

Shrek 2 [DreamWorks]
Shark Tale [DreamWorks]
Wonderful Days aka "Sky Blue" [Tin House]
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie [Paramount-Nickelodeon]

Every January, when the calendar has turned to a new year, the attention of the entertainment community and of film fans around the world turns to the upcoming Academy Awards. Oscar Fever hits, building to the crescendo of the annual presentation of golden statuettes, when hundreds of millions of cinema lovers glue themselves to their television sets to learn who will receive the highest honor in filmmaking.

The Academy Awards Presentation is also the activity that enables the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to maintain its varied year-round calendar of programs and events and a wide-ranging educational and cultural agenda.

The annual Oscar presentation has been held since 1929.
