Moonscoop Animation Distribution News

Moonscoop Group recently completed a few new broadcast sales for its cartoon programming to multiple Asian and Middle Eastern territories. The co-producer and distributor of animation regularly hits central and eastern Europe as well as the Americas, but has spent some time as of late by dealing several properties both new and old to additional viewing regions. From the French fantasy-adventure Tara Duncan to the newly-minted superhero series Zevo-3 to the wildly popular Geronimo Stilton cartoon, Moonscoop continues sending a few familiar animated programs to new homes.

Free over-the-air broadcaster MBC3 (Middle East) has acquired the rights to air four new animated television programs: the new adventure series The DaVincibles, Australia-produced GASP!, Tara Duncan, and Zevo-3. Each of these programs have their own sense of youthful adventure about them, and make for an interesting package deal for area viewers. Meanwhile, not long ago Moonscoop also came to an agreement with KBS (Korea) regarding Geronimo Stilton and preschool animation Chloe's Closet; Nickelodeon (Korea) for the stop-action film Panique au Village; and to PT Indosiar (Indonesia) the CG titles Pet Alien and Dive, Olly, Dive! Also in southern Asia, PTS (Taiwan) has acquired the second season of SamSam, the faith-based channel Good TV (Taiwan) has taken on Toddworld, while Astro Chinese (Malaysia) has acquired the uniquely designed children's production Ava Riko Teo.

"It's fantastic to get such a strong response from a broadcaster to new programming," Marie Conge, Senior Vice President of International Sales and CPG at Moonscoop, said regarding some of the new broadcast agreements. "What makes these shows standout in the crowded animation market is the high mix of comedy and adventure, and also that they appeal equally to both boys and girls."

Many of these newer titles offered by Moonscoop Group, such as GASP!, are still making their way around their native territories. GASP! is an animated series about a talking goldfish who delights in journeying around the house when his owners are out to school or work. The program recently landed on Australian and New Zealand airwaves [related A.I. news: "Australia Animation News" (07/2010)].

The DaVincibles is also a relatively new property; the cartoon is about a modern day DaVinci family where kids and other relatives set out on globetrotting adventures in search of artifacts to sell in their quirky family store. The series is co-created and co-produced by Moonscoop and Neo Network (France). Elsewhere, the animated series Tara Duncan, an adaptation of the works of Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian, has been around for a little while, but continues its search for kid audiences interested in magical fantasy and coming-of-age tales.

Additional seasons of the Geronimo Stilton continue production; meanwhile, more and more broadcasters line-up to exhibit the series' mystery-solving exploits to more and more viewers. Moonscoop Group has served as promotions and licensing supporter of the Geronimo Stilton animation for roughly three years now. Chloe's Closet, of course, is also a somewhat new production. A preschool series about a little girl and her friend who dress up and cross the threshold of Chloe's closet to enter new and imaginative worlds, Chloe's Closet has since snuggled in comfortably with audiences the UK, Germany, and several other countries.
