Phineas and Ferb on Schedule for 2009

February 2009 is going to be a relatively big month for Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher--the two step brothers of Disney's Phineas and Ferb TV animation each with a big brain for summertime adventure. The second home video installment of the animated television series is coming out soon in addition to the program's premiere of new episodes on-air and online are all scheduled for this month. Disney is planning a lot for Phineas and Ferb this year, including a special episode on the "Top 10 Phineas and Ferb Songs," among several other items.

The second DVD release of the animated series Phineas and Ferb: The Daze of Summer (volume two) is heading to store shelves in the near future, and looks to pack another five episodes onto a single disc. As a result, Phineas and Ferb, with all of its catchy, original songwriting and clever character dynamics, will offer schoolchildren much to dream about whilst toiling away in the second semester of an assuredly gloomy season of academics. "The Daze of Summer" naturally includes episodes featuring the main cast, regular kids, evil supervillains, conspiring teenagers, platypuses, and all.

For this release in particular, Phineas and Ferb venture to recreate ancient times by having a series of medieval games; venture beyond the stratosphere for a trip to Mars; look for pirate treasure; and a fun variety of other ventures (and inventions) sure to drive their sister Candace insane. Yes, these kids are a bit too young to be plotting the complex construction of chariots, space travel, and acrobatic circus festivities, but a little opposition never hurt anyone.

Phineas and Ferb: The Daze of Summer will be available on February 10th, 2009 for only $19.99 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

In other Phineas and Ferb news, Disney XD--the newly branded boys-skewed television network, formerly Toon Disney--is scheduled to premiere new episodes of the adventure comedy cartoon come mid-February. In 2008, the animation reportedly ranked as television's #1 animated series with Tweens 9-14; ranking as television's #2 program among Boys 6-14 at its Friday 8:30pm time-period. Accordingly, Disney XD, with the stated target demographic of Kids 6-14, will be streaming episodes online as well (at www.DisneyXD.com).

Kicking off their debut on the cable channel with a bang, Phineas and Ferb will drop on Disney XD with a daytime marathon on Monday, February 16th (8:00am-4:30pm). The marathon will apparently include seventeen episodes of the animated TV series. After the marathon, Disney XD will broadcast an all-new episode of Phineas and Ferb, whose loglines note that Candace will finally get the upper hand on her little brothers (if only for a moment), in her quest to get their mother to witness Phineas and Ferb's crazy inventions in action. The new episode will debut at 4:30pm and will guest star reporter and political commentator Geraldo Rivera. New episodes will air daily from February 16th through 21st at 4:30pm; the series then moves to its regular time slot on Saturday, February 21st at 8:00am. Reruns of Phineas and Ferb will air on Disney Channel accordingly.

Later on in the calendar year, Disney will also include an episode that parodies a music video countdown program, focusing on the "Top 10 Phineas and Ferb Song" that viewers have voted as their favorites. Additional special or themed episodes include an episode inspired by The Wizard of Oz, an "all-musical extravaganza," and an episode where Phineas and Ferb even go into the future. Created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, Phineas and Ferb is a clever and fun animated television series sure to move into high gear as the days move on.
