Honeybee Scout Ratings

Nickelodeon's latest original animated television series, The Mighty B!, scored fairly well in its debut a week ago on Saturday morning. Although the delivery numbers were not impressively beyond the previous year's numbers for the same time-period, the television premiere of The Mighty B! nevertheless ranked well in the week's listing of combined broadcast for key demographics. An animated television series co-created by comedienne Amy Poehler and animator Erik Wiese, The Mighty B! is about one little girl's comedic romp through adolescence, scout uniform and all.

As Bessie Higgenbottom, gapped teeth and boundless energy in tow, makes her way through the Honeybee Scouts, she touches the lives of everyone she meets… sometimes annoying them, sometimes making new friends, and sometimes just providing good entertainment. Bessie's current obsession is to collect the several thousand badges that her Scout troop awards for various acts of bravery, civil duty, science experiments and the like. The central character of the animated comedy The Mighty B!, life for Bessie is all about helping others (even, or especially if they don't want it), getting along with her cynical dog and of course, reeling more Honeybee badges.

Premiering on Saturday, April 26th; The Mighty B! performed decently among the Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 age demographics, according to Nielson Media Research, scoring very favorable, comparatively, against rival programming on other broadcast and basic cable networks for the same time-period. While it remains true that Nickelodeon programming traditionally dominates Total Delivery viewership, the premiere of The Mighty B! scored above average, for Nickelodeon programming. The series ranked in the Top 10 of all programming, for combined broadcast and basic cable shows, for both the Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 demographics.

Among Kids 2-11, The Mighty B! inhaled an audience of 1.92 million viewers during its Saturday premiere. The show took a backseat, as most programs do almost every week, to multiple airings of SpongeBob SquarePants. Among Kids 6-11, The Mighty B! brought in another Top 10 finish with 1.27 million viewers, for the animation premiere. The series was outperformed only by SpongeBob as an animated program, and the live-action kid sitcom iCarly.

Poehler's program additionally earned a commendable rating of 5.2/23, during its 10:30am premiere on Nickelodeon's Saturday morning programming block, the ratings share is a good 0.8 percentage points higher than the network average for the recorded time-period.

On a related note, The Mighty B! certifiably doubled the viewership of Cartoon Network's same-time animation that Saturday, their latest import, Bakugan (2.4/11, K6-11).

The Mighty B!'s audience rating is more than a full share above the previous week's time-period program, which was Back at the Barnyard, a very consistently high ranked television animation for Nickelodeon weekends; and nearly a ratings share and a half above the previous year's time-period program, then El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.

on The Mighty B!: Bessie wears her uniform every single day, leads her troop with zeal General Patton would have admired and has earned more badges than any Honeybee in history. But a bunch of badges still elude her, and Bessie's not stopping until she has every last one.
