Nerd Corps Toys

The computer animated television series Storm Hawks will be making its way into the hands of kids in the forth coming months, as the Nerd Corps Entertainment cartoon has found itself wildly popular in a recent slate of licensing agreements. Accessory apparel, regular apparel, toys and more are on the ticket for Storm Hawks. Successful with young demographics, chiefly the Tween audiences, on Canada's YTV network and the States' Cartoon Network, the television series follows a group of inexperienced, adventure-seeking young adults whose knack for humor is as well known as their desire to fly high.

The program is set in a fantasy world where squadrons of soaring Sky Knights take to the air to protect their territory. Although the five teens at the center of Storm Hawks are as vastly different as they come, their determination and teamwork make for a fun and exciting array of adventure as they journey through the sky on flying motorcycles, dog-fighting any combination of bad guy villainy. Storm Hawks quality dialogue and smart character dynamics frequently make for an enjoyable watch.

New toys based on the television animation have already hit the market this year. North American fans should be able to locate toys courtesy of Spin Master, which were available in January. Spin Master is the Storm Hawks master toy licensee. Resteraunt promotions have soon followed as Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants across the U.S. featured Storm Hawks toys in more than 3 million of its Cool Kids Combos. More toys are on the way though, as North American licensing agent MGM Consumer Products has announced plans for new licensees for merchandise and other items due out in summer and fall of 2008.

On the apparel front, C-Life, a mostly boy's clothing group, has agreed to a deal related to general apparel; Accessory Innovations, who specializes in specialty items from travel bags to backpacks to wallets to socks to slippers, is on board for producing Storm Hawks backpacks and other items. Elegant Headwear will work on hats and caps; the Hobbico Corporation on 3D puzzles; WestPoint Home for bedding materials; Hybrid Promotions for t-shirt apparel; and Wiesner Products for licensed footwear.

The most popular new licensing deal signed recently for Storm Hawks is a planned trading card game, from WhizKids (Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean). The "PocketModel" trading card game will blend consumer interest in action figures and model building with the incredibly popular trend of card-battle series'/games. Scheduled for a 2009 release, the StormHawks PocketModel item is a composite card game that offers the chance for fans of the animated series to build physical models based on the property and integrate their constructions (characters, vehicles) into the gameplay of the card battles.

Internationally, Nerd Corps Entertainment has come to an agreement with RMP Licensing (France and French-speaking territories), BRB Internacional (Spain and Portugal), Exim Licensing (Mexico, Central Amer., South Amer., Caribbean), Haven Licensing (Australia and New Zealand), Kidz Entertainment (Nordic territories, Eastern Europe), Empire Multimedia (select parts of Asia) and M4E (Germany and German-speaking territories). According to Nerd Corps, more announcements are still to come.
