Scam of the Century

Cartoon Network original television animation Ed, Edd n Eddy will be returning soon, but in videogame form. As announced by Cartoon Network Enterprises, the global licensing and merchandising arm of the network, the Eds will be making their way to portable gaming consoles of television viewers who are interested in keeping their pal Eddy out of trouble, as seems to happen quite often. In the new interactive videogame Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century gamers will be able to make every attempt possible to help get the Eds out of their latest predicament. To be developed and published by D3Publisher of America, Inc., the Ed, Edd n Eddy videogame comes as one of the many original properties D3PA has licensed for gaming production.

The story of three best friends, each with the same name, whose summer and fall exploits cross paths with any number of friends and schoolmates, Ed, Edd n Eddy is a Cartoon Network original property, created by and with animation production by a.k.a. Cartoon, Inc. Having been one of the network's longest running programs, Ed, Edd n Eddy is available in a variety of consumer merchandise in addition to interactive media, such as videogames.

The videogame in particular, Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century, takes place at a time when Eddy's favorite book, "Who to Scam and When" is lost and read by an angry mob of kids. The book, dear to Eddy for obvious reasons, now seems to be causing more harm than help for the Eds and their entrepreneurial endeavors.

"D3PA is thrilled to create a brand new game based on Ed, Edd n Eddy, the longest-running and most successful of Cartoon Network's franchises," Alison Quirion, vice president of marketing, D3PA commented in a press release. "The rich character profiles and story elements from the show will be authentically portrayed in Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century, ensuring that the game will be an immersive experience in to the Eds' world and a must-have for fans this fall." D3Publishers of America, Inc. has also been tagged to develop a videogame based on Cartoon Network's successful boys' property Ben 10 with Ben 10: Protector of Earth [related A.I. news: "'Ben 10' Videogame Coming Soon"].

The Ed, Edd n Eddy videogame will be developed for the Nintendo DS portable gaming platform and is scheduled for release Fall 2007. Featuring 13 stages, special attacks (with the touch screen), zany special items three side story mini-games and the option blow into the microphone to bring characters back to life, Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century looks to be the game of the century for die-hard fans of the Eds.

Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century for Nintendo DS features an original storyline developed around Eddy losing his precious "Who to Scam and When" book. When the three friends realize their classmate Kevin has the book in his hands and an angry mob of kids has developed, they run for the woods. Splitting up to throw off the crowd, they plan to meet up back at the cul-de-sac. What they do not know is that several adventures await them on their quest home. Players take control of the Eds and must make their way through tricks, traps, angry kids and a barrage of ammunition including soap and broccoli.

Ed, Edd and Eddy finally make their way back to the cul-de-sac only to find the ultimate obstacle before them: Rolf has built a giant fort to keep the Eds out forever! Each Ed must use his own special talent to smash, brainstorm or scam his way inside. Once inside the fort, the Eds regroup to reclaim Eddy's scam book. But standing in their way is none other than The Masked Melonhead Avenger and Splinter: The Wonderwood.
