Karin is a blood-maker, not a bloodsucker; that is to say, her body actually produces the blood it needs, thereby making the necessity of sucking blood quite negligible. In addition to this, her bubbly and yes, perhaps ditzy personality isn't exactly the brooding disposition one usually associates with vampires either. Karin's heritage as a vampire is a well-kept secret given that she lives with her family in contemporary Japan. Although embarrassed by her bodily condition, Karin fares rather well as far as living the life of a "normal" schoolgirl goes. But when a male transfer student named Kenta Usui moves into the area, Karin is having trouble repelling the familiar urge to bleed.

Karin Maaka's world starts to unravel though when this tall and capable young man enters her life. Uncomfortable around this young man for reasons she can't quite understand, Karin has to figure out just what Kenta means to her, through clumsiness and the avoidance of family secrets all the while.
A clever romantic comedy with a humorous twist, Karin is an easily accessible Japanese animated television series whose characters are presented with a couple additional challenges in their budding relationship. The first DVD Volume of Karin, entitled "Infusion," is currently available for $29.98 from Geneon Entertainment.
A full-length television animation, Karin was loved by its native fans for its genuinely charismatic appeal to the needs of its characters. With slow to develop personal relationships the result of odd and humorous personal circumstances, Karin delves into the world of teenage awkwardness with a friendly bit of fantasy.
After all, what better way to develop new romantic relationships than through embarrassing family secrets? The anime series Karin features animation production from JC Staff; whose vast repertoire of titles include the offbeat schoolyard comedy Azumanga Daioh, the ultimate fantasy adventure of Melody of Oblivion, the magic user harem Maburaho as well as the cute comedy about growing up, in Doki Doki School Hours.
