The Way of the Ed

Later this week Cartoon Network will present to devoted audiences "The Best Day Edder," a massive marathon of animated television programming that chronicles the adventures and misadventures of everyone's favorite trio named Ed. Celebrating the creative history of original television animation on the network over the past decade and a half, Cartoon Network will be airing every single, regular episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy. Including everything from the Eds debut at a summer pool party; to the three Holiday specials that span Halloween, the much dreaded Valentine's Day and the Christmas Season; to the premiere of a brand new episode, being touted as the final episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy.

Debuting on Cartoon Network in 1999, over the years Ed, Edd n Eddy has served the vital function of possessing a classic feel of boundless creativity whose success can only be mimicked and never duplicated. "The Best Day Edder," a marathon that spans well over 30 hours beginning 9:30am on Friday, April 27th, 2007, will provide television viewers--through eleven/twelve minute segments--with an intimate view of innovation in animation, through the eyes of three best friends who spend all of their summer (and eventually fall) months trying to con their peers out of their cash.

From the mind of creator/writer/director Danny Antonucci, Ed, Edd n Eddy remains one of the most fun and involving television animations on Cartoon Network. Antonucci has served a variety of other creative positions in the production of this cartoon, such as Art Director for example, integrating his decades of experience and knowledge base of the industry into a wonderful experience in adolescence. Ed, Edd n Eddy is rated TV-Y7 and is an animated television series whose surreal production design and heartily familiar characters immerse the audience in a neat little cul-de-sac of everything your childhood stood for. Please review the following schedule for "The Best Day Edder," each episode of the schedule of which can be found on the following pages of this AnimationInsider.net news article:

About The Series: Ed is into "B" monster movies and model kits, and is quick to break out in rashes. Not the brains of the threesome, Ed is easily talked into participating in whatever harebrained scheme Eddy has dreamed up, and his uncanny physical strength often comes in handy. When he's not doing Eddy's dirty work, he's baby-sitting his whiny little sister Sarah and listening to his father's theories on "pre-owned" auto sales.

Edd (a.k.a. "Double D") is really smart, really quiet and unnaturally polite. Exempt from gym class since the Dodge Ball Incident, Edd spends his free time studying chemistry and biology in the library. Prone to crushes, Edd expresses his affection by mailing his socks to his many "true loves." Edd's parents communicate to their son solely through sticky-notes.

Eddy is the unofficial leader of the three Eds. Labeled a megalomaniac by his report card, Eddy loves being the center of attention. Though he pretends to know it all, the things Eddy knows best are the location of all the abandoned treehouses in the neighborhood, which sewer pipes are safe to spelunk and the secret recipe for the "El Mongo Stink Bomb."

The Eds are driven by their constant quest for money, which they plan to spend on life's finer things, like jawbreakers. Their schemes are familiar childhood ventures with an oddball twist and an optimistic profit margin, including a pet beauty salon, a neighborhood pin-up calendar and an exclusive clubhouse dubbed "Club Ed."

The other kids on the cul-de-sac are along for the ride, offering their own developing personalities to the mix. When she's not terrorizing the Eds, Sarah, Ed's little sister, plays with her best friend Jimmy, an accident-prone little boy who prefers the safe amusement of dolls and tea parties to the roughhousing of the neighborhood boys. Casting the Eds in a more normal light are Rolf, a first-generation immigrant from unknown origins who eats weird things and practices peculiar cultural traditions, and Jonny 2x4, a loner whose best friend is a wooden board named Plank. Rounding out the cast are Nazz, the neighborhood heartthrob, and Kevin, a cynic who thinks every one of the Eds' ideas is stupid. Finally, the Kanker Sisters are the neighborhood bullies and the Eds' archrivals. Their master plan is to marry the Eds and force them to do their dishes.
