In anticipation of The Powerpuff Girls’ 10th anniversary in 2008, Cartoon Network and Warner Home Video will release a two-disc special edition DVD of the show’s first season this summer – for animation fans and collectors of all ages. Working closely with series creator Craig McCracken, who served as art director on the project, the two-disc set will include all 13 original episodes of the Emmy-winning series and is loaded with never before released special features--hand-picked by McCracken.

This is an exciting time. First, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends Season One on DVD, and now we’ll see Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup moving right up to shelves.

The Powerpuff Girls: Season One special features include McCracken’s student film “The Whoopass Girls,” an early incarnation of the crime-fighting trio; video interviews with McCracken from CNN, and raw interview footage from McCracken’s guest appearance on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. DVD extras will also include "The Whoopass Girls Stew Animatics," "Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins," "Crime 101," and series promos.

One of Cartoon Network’s most popular series, The Powerpuff Girls has earned five Emmy-nominations and two Emmy Awards as well as countless animation honors. The series also inspired a feature film in 2003 and was one of Cartoon Network’s top-grossing consumer products franchises across all categories. In addition, seven of The Powerpuff Girls home video releases earned a place on Billboard Magazine’s Top 20 Kids Video Chart.
