Healthy PSAs

The promotion of healthy lifestyles amongst today's youth has become a noted point of emphasis over the past few years for television networks. Hoping to strike a chord with their young audiences (and their parents as well), many networks have offered and continue to offer public service announcements regarding how important it is for television viewers to get outside, scrape a knee, and get active. Chorus Entertainment's YTV and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada have similarly joined forces to promote active and engaged youthful lifestyles in its viewership. YTV, seen in more than eight million homes across Canada, is a leading network for animated programming with select demographics.

With the great assistance of YTV's Coach Callous, motto "Get your rear in gear!" has become a mantra on the network, the 60-second PSA produced between YTV and Boy sand Girls Clubs of Canada will show young Canadians how to keep their interest in a healthy viewing habits as well as their interest in keeping a healthy young body. The start of what will be a multi-year, multimedia initiative, the goal to get kids moving and to get kids active will hopefully add another dimension to the reliability of YTV and their partners.

"We can use YTV's airwaves to play an important role in championing a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes regular physical activity," Paul Robertson, President, Television, at Corus Entertainment commented. "Over 1.9 million kids tune-in to YTV each week and by working together with a national, reputable organization like Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada we believe we can have a real impact on how kids think about health and fitness."

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is a leading provider of programs that support the healthy physical, educational and social development of young people and their families across Canada. The joint promotion between Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and YTV includes an investment from Chorus Entertainment of $4 million, spanning three years, in favor of this "living media initiative." Across on-air promotions, print media and interactive, online media, these public service announcements will help ensure that today's youth is not only well versed in quality and safe programming but in how to keep a healthy lifestyle as well. For over one hundred years, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada has provided safe, supportive places for children and youth to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life
