The Nicktoons Network, one of the very few remaining 24-hours/7days all-animation networks in all of television, has most recently become one of the most advantageous places to explore and promote quality animation. And so, with the spirit of the animation festival, the presence of mind to give the event a little competition and with an international appeal, the Nicktoons Network Animation Festival is on the hunt. "We couldn't be more excited about another year with Frederator, our new partner KidScreen," Keith Dawkins, Vice President and General Manager, Nicktoons Network commented in a press release. "If the growth of the festival from the first two years is any indication of this year's success, then we're expecting even more entries from even more talent from even more places from around the globe."
The hunt for original short films, as created in any style of animation, is ongoing but sluggish for many companies and organizations; but for Nicktoons Network, this animation festival offers a moment in time when individuals can get up close and personal with the submission and judging of their content. "We're thrilled to be involved in the third season of the Festival," Fred Seibert, Festival Executive Director and President, Frederator Studios adds. "We've set the bar high, but filmmakers from around the world keep surprising us with more innovative content."
Submissions for the festival (forms can be downloaded on www.NicktoonsNetwork.com) must not exceed 10 minutes in length, and are accepted through Wednesday may 31st 2006. Of the submissions, pre-selected shorts by a panel of jurors will be showcased on-air and online on Nicktoons Network from August 26th through August 31st. A grand jury will select a grand prize winner from the ten films chosen by the pre-selection jury--the grand prize winner will be awarded $10,000. Other awards include: Producer's Choice Award, Student Award and--new to this year's festival--a diversity award.
